Statement of Purpose

My objective with this blog is to discuss interesting matters related to evaluation and performance measurement of government programs:

• what's been evaluated and how,
  
• how tools like the PART scores are being used to reshape government performance, and
  
• how the evaluation functions of government agencies are funded and managed.

I've been told I have a low threshold for what I consider interesting, but it seems to me that all of these are vitally important -- because politicians campaign on programs that have stated objectives, because there are areas of real need that can be successfully or unsuccessfully addressed through policy, and because we (and our kids) are paying for all of this to go on.
